Joins
Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired
Jeff Lemucchi, former news anchor on KBAK-TV 29 and KBFX Fox 58, has assumed the position of Executive Director of Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
Jeff states, “I am excited to be a part of such an important group of people. Each person affiliated with the Center, from staff and volunteers to clients and donors, is an integral part of the success of our organization. I look forward to seeing what great things we can accomplish together in the future.”
Jeff has over 34 years experience in radio and television broadcasting, many of those years in administrative positions as well as on-air. Jeff also served for nearly seven years as Executive Director of a 450-student private Christian school in Northern California.
Jeff assumed his new role at CBVI June 1st.
CBVI Receives Beautiful Bakersfield Award Nomination
On May 30, 2009, the annual Beautiful Bakersfield Awards ceremony was held at the Doubletree Hotel in Bakersfield. Presented by the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce, the Beautiful Bakersfield Awards recognize local individuals and organizations for their positive contributions to the health and vitality of our community.
The Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired was nominated for an award in the Humanitarian-Small Group Category. In a letter to Interim Executive Director Jennifer Peters, Chamber President Debra Moreno writes, “Your nomination pays tribute to the time, effort and commitment that you so generously gave to enhance and improve our community’s quality of life during 2008. It is an honor and privilege for us to be able to recognize the significant contributions of businesses, organizations and people like you who help make Bakersfield a better place to live, work and play.”
Bakersfield truly is more beautiful thanks to organizations such as CBVI!
Summer Recreation Program
The Center would like to invite you to our Summer recreation program on Tuesdays. It is open to all who are visually impaired or blind. You are welcome to join us for arts and crafts or just to socialize. Bring your own lunch.
Volunteers needed for the Tuesday recreation program and other events. If you wish to volunteer please call the Center at (661) 322-5234.
